Mert Çağıl Türkay
Exhibition: The new structure suggested by urban transformation projects in order to change the cities fast, contrast of nature and settlement and live areas are taking place in our agenda frequently. The new structures, which were thought as useful for society, positioning at the same time, the negativeness brought by ignoring the nature, replacement of nature and concrete has come to an irreversible point. As representative traces of the devastation left by construction equipment, workers and concrete structures not only on nature but indeed on the future of a society cyanotype print technique was applied on dried or almost drying leaves.
Biography: Mert Çağıl Türkay, born in 1987 in Istanbul, graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Photography Department, continues his master degree educationin the same department. Participated in several national and international exhibitions and workshops such as "International Print Triennial / Interfaces", "Realm- Eyes On / Monat der fotografie Wien", "Mamut Art Project", "TUYAP Art Fair", "Aspects of Balkan Photography". He is doing photography, alternative photographic printing techniques, installation and video projects. Politics of difference and gender mainstreaming, biopower and bodies used as protest are highlighted in his artworks. Works as a research assistant in Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Photography Department and assists projects of MSFAU Photography Application and Research Center (FUAM).
