Exhibition: This is a project I created with photographs that I took at varying time points. It was designed and produced as a mock-up book at the photography book workshop called ‘Open Back’ organized by Michela Palermo and Nico Baumgarten at MSGSÜ Photography Application and Research Center in 2016. A story about a city burning deep down and those of us living in that city is fictionalized. In this story, telling the tale of how the painful transformation of city that turns into devastation and pain with time, with the traces it leaves behind is desired. The destruction of the process burns down everything contained within, along with the city, just like cinder, and leaves behind images such as houses being demolished, forts burning down, animals being killed. While CINDER expresses two meanings of the order being burnt down and burning others, it also evokes the deep sadness that surrounds it all.
